Snowdrop plant

Spring always makes us think of new, fresh, and clean. The new plants coming to life remind us that warmer weather is coming and the sun will be shining more. There are new clothes in the stores and even the air smells fresher. And many of us tackle spring cleaning of one type or another. But what about our oral health?

1. Change Your Toothbrush or Toothbrush Head.

Toothbrushes or toothbrush heads should be changed every three months or when the bristles start to flay out. Make sure that if you are using a manual toothbrush that you have soft or extra-soft bristles. If you are using an electric toothbrush, change the head when bristles begin to spread out or when the color indicator shows that there has been wear and tear. Spring is a great time to try one of the new electric toothbrushes that Library Park Dental sells to you at a cost…Oral B Genius Toothbrush or the Oral B Pro Series toothbrush.

2. Make an Appointment to Get Your Teeth Cleaned.

Our hygienists not only clean and polish your teeth, but applying fluoride helps to prevent decay. Polishing your teeth brings out the beauty in your smile. Call us to set up an appointment.

3. Talk to Us About Tooth Whitening.

There are several ways to whiten your teeth. Professional whitening, whether done in the office or by using custom trays at home with professional whitening gel, has stronger concentrations and can result in lighter shades faster than store-bought products. There are strips that can be placed on teeth, and also whitening toothpaste and rinses. The pastes and rinses are great ways to keep your teeth white after you have had them professionally lightened. Talk to someone at Library Park Dental today about the options available to you for whitening your teeth this spring.

4. Take Care of Any Procedures That You’ve Been Putting Off.

We know life happens. You may have a procedure that should be done but whether it is due to time, money, or general procrastination, it just hasn’t happened. Spring is the time to get that implant started or get the crown done. We do what we can to save you time – many crowns can be placed in one visit thanks to our computer technology and in-office lab. We also do what we can to help with the financial side of things. We accept a variety of credit cards and also offer to finance through Care Credit. Talk to us and we will try to work with your situation. Make that appointment today and check something off your “to-do” list!

5. Get Enough Sleep.

Sleep is so important for your overall health. Many people have sleep apnea or sleep-disordered breathing. Snoring, gasping for breath, and morning headaches are all signs of sleep-disordered breathing. Dr. Haugstad has specialized training in Dental Sleep issues and can work with your medical provider to determine the best treatment for you. While some people need a CPAP, many others can be fitted with a custom oral appliance similar to a mouthguard that allows the individual to have a more restful sleep. This spring, make your health a priority! Call us to set up a consultation to discuss how we can help you sleep better.
