Treatment Advances
Digital X-Rays
Digital x-rays not only expose our patients and staff to 90% less radiation than typical film-type x-rays, they are also more sensitive than traditional dental x-rays. Digital x-rays allow us to clearly see the entire tooth and root structure as well as surrounding bone and tissue. They give us the opportunity to detect and diagnose issues before they are visible to the naked eye, and before they can cause significant damage and pain.
To obtain an x-ray a small sensor pad that is connected to a computer is placed in the mouth. A beam is then sent through your teeth to the sensor that records the images. The doctors and staff can immediately display the digital x-rays on a computer screen to review the results. There is no more waiting for x-rays to be developed. We can also share the images with you so you can see what we are explaining to you.
CEREC®
CEREC® technology allows our doctors to restore teeth with crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays in just one office visit. First, digital impressions are made of your teeth using a special high-precision camera. The CEREC® machine then uses the digital image to design a custom restoration for you, matching the color precisely with the shade of your natural teeth. The machine then fabricates the restoration while you rest comfortably.
Within a short time the doctor bonds the new restoration to your tooth and your dental work is completed. The result is a durable, natural-looking restoration that is cost-effective, comfortable and, most importantly, beautiful. Dr. Chiappetta’s expertise in the use of CEREC® has earned him a mentorship position at the Scottsdale Center for Dentistry, the premier CEREC® educational center in the country.
Soft Tissue Laser
The soft tissue laser allows us to provide delicate, precise treatment without damaging healthy tissue. Treatments completed with the soft tissue laser are generally painless and do not require the use of incisions or stitches. As the laser is removing diseased tissue it also disinfects the treatment area which greatly reduces the chance of infection. Best of all, healing time is greatly reduced as compared to treatments done with a scalpel. With the soft tissue laser we are able to painlessly treat gum disease and cold sores. The laser is also excellent for gum reshaping and contouring to improve the look of your smile.
Radiosurgery
Radiosurgery is an exciting new technology that allows us to treat gum issues safely and comfortably with the use of radio waves rather then a scalpel. It allows us to perform gum treatment that is bloodless and requires no stitches. This allows our patients to experience a much faster, easier recovery. Gum tissue helps protect teeth, but excessive gum tissue can be removed without reducing this protection. Gum tissue contouring is especially helpful to accident patients who have damaged gums.
Single Tooth Anesthesia
Single tooth anesthesia is a computer controlled local dental anesthesia. It allows us to safely and precisely deliver anesthesia to just the tooth being worked on without numbing the entire mouth, gums, tongue and lips. After your appointment you can go about your day without having to deal with all the typical side effects such as speech impairment, drooling or accidentally biting your lips or gums. It is wonderful to use with children because they tend not to notice they are getting numb and parents don’t have to worry about them chewing on a numb cheek.
Cavitron
In the past, the only way to remove tarter from above and below the gum line was by scraping with a hand instrument. With the Cavitron Ultrasonic Cleaner, our hygienists are able to gently and comfortably remove tarter with high-frequency sound waves.
The Cavitron Ultrasonic cleaner is a safe, effective and painless alternative to traditional cleaning methods. The Cavitron vibrates at the speed of sound so you hardly feel any movement. This makes even a deep cleaning a more pleasant experience.
Root Canal Treatment
Root canals, or endodontic treatments, are not what they used to be. Technology has transformed this procedure. It is now more precise, comfortable and efficient.
With the Apex Locator and Rotary Endodontic Instrumentation we use, we can more accurately and more quickly determine the end point of the root canal and finish the procedure sooner. Our goal is to give you better dentistry and a more pleasant visit.
Rotary Endodontics
Not long ago, endodontic treatment was done with hand filers and reamers. With today’s technological advances, performing a root canal with the use of a rotary file system is simpler and more comfortable for the patient. The use of the rotary file system gives Dr. Chiappetta and Dr. Haugstad more control, which allows them to perform root canals more comfortably, in less time and with more precision.
